10C. SIMULATIONS - Part 3
AIRPLANE
The adult lifts the child under the child's chest and legs and walks forward. Fly wherever you want, but takeoff and land at an airport.
To be a bird the child flaps the arms and lands on his or her feet.
HELICOPTER
The rotor turns as the helicopter flies. For variation the child can rest on the adult's head. Only adults should do this play with children.
TAKEOFF
As the child runs forward, the adult lifts the child up into the air. Check to make sure the runway is clear.
Raise the child as you move forward.
Raise one wing and lower the other to turn directions.
WATER SKIER I
The child is the water skier, the adult is the boat. As the child skis, he or she leans from left to right. Sometimes the waves are bumpy. If the skier falls, pull the skier into the boat quickly.
Variation: for waves the child can stand on the adult's legs, which wiggle back and forth.
WATER SKIER II
The child skis between the adult's legs; the adult pulls the child. Do this one on a smooth floor or on the beach. To reduce friction on a floor, either wear socks or put a piece of paper under the child's feet. Adjust the angle of the child to reduce friction. The lower the child, the better.
BAG DRAG
The child is a big bag. The adult clasps his or her hands behind the child's back and drags the child forward between the legs.
TOBOGGAN I AND II
These toboggans do not need snow. They can slide very well on a flat field, or on the sand, or on a wooden floor.
The adult steps backwards or forwards as he or she tows the toboggan. Only the child's feet should touch the ground.
ELEVATOR
This elevator takes its passengers up and down. To make it go the child simply steps onto the adult's hands at the ground level and presses the button on the adult's shirt for the desired floor, first, second, or third.
If doing elevator in the living room, the first floor can be a chair or sofa, the second floor an arm rest, and the third floor a desk or table.
Elevator is hard on the adult's back. Do this move with two and three year old children only. The adult must keep the back straight as he or she rises.
ROCKET LAUNCH PAD
The child is the rocket, the adult is the launch pad. To get on the launch pad, the child steps onto the adult's hands and braces against the adult's upstretched legs.
BLAST OFF
To blast off, the child counts down from ten. At zero the engines ignite and the rocket lifts off, as the adult slowly raises his or her hands.
