Acknowledgements

This Internet book is actually the collective work of all the parents, friends, and relatives who have done Family Plays with their children through the years and passed them down to us. The many men and women who celebrate the humanness of healthy physical contact with children are to be applauded.

In particular we wish to acknowledge the hours our grandfather, Dr. Daniel Johnson Fleming, spent with us as young boys doing Family Plays. This wonderful theologian knew so much about communication. Our parents carried on the tradition of hugging and physical play. Frank Smith, our schoolboy wrestling coach, taught us much about body movement and the integrity of interpersonal physical contact.

We would like to thank Bill Oakes and Joe Forest for their design suggestions and financial help in this project. Over forty friends read the rough drafts of this video and gave us the benefit of their experience.

To Our Parents

Helen and Ralph Adams, M.D.
